New Addition to Mustang

Let me start by giving you some of the background first. Just north of Austin is a small race track that opens up the track every Friday night to anyone interested in coming. It is called a Test 'n Tune where you can go and run your car along the track if you want to see how fast she is. You can even race others if you want.
Last Friday night I went to go check it out. It was a lot of fun! I went to go check out the local hot rods and street racers to see what's out there. I even got to see a few races down the track. Cool! While I was there I came to realize that there is a gauge that you can install in your car that tells you how the fuel/air mix ratio is doing inside the engine. I have often wondered if the Mustang was running too rich, and how would I know.
Well, last Sunday I installed my own gauge. It took about six hours from start to finish. I lifted the car up on jacks in the garage and crawled under the car to find the oxygen sensor. I tapped into the lead wire which runs into the engine's computer. This is what tells the engine to add or hold fuel to the air in the chamber of the cylinders. So, I spliced into the lead wire and took it through the firewall into the cockpit. There it ran into the gauge along with power from the fuse box. It works great! At a glance I can see if the engine is mixing too mush fuel with the air or too little. Neat!
It took a long time, but I loved every minute of it!
